Hatton Boxing – Instructor Skills

Anyone who has followed boxing for any time will know Ricky Hatton the boxer.  Since retiring he has opened a gym and most recently seems he has branched out to online courses. So I thought it would be good to see if the courses were any good.  I decided to try the "Instructor Course".  Mostly because it was the cheapest at £29.

Once you pay for the course and create your Hatton account, you can access the course, which consists of 13 steps:

  • Introduction (3)
  • Instructor Skills (7)
  • Course Completion (3)

Most of the steps are a short video from the presenter who is part of the Hatton Team.  All the videos are clear, succinct and easy to watch. At the end of the course you can take the exam, as many attempts as you need, until you pass.  I passed on the first attempt.

Who is this aimed at? I would say this is for new coaches, or sports/fitness coaches looking to transition to boxing coaching.  If you are IABA certified Level 1&2, a lot of the content will have been covered already.

Was it worth it? Like with any training, you always pick up something, so yes.  Personally the tips around using a video camera was helpful
